چکیده

This paper analyzes performances of the Pulse Interval Modulation (PIM) scheme for impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) communication systems. Due to the PIM anisochronous nature, a tap delay line (TDL) coded division multiple access (CDMA) scheme based on strict optical orthogonal codes (SOOC) is proposed. This scheme is suitable for multiuser high-speed data asynchronous transmission applications because the average symbol length is shorter than in Pulse Position Modulation (PPM) schemes and it needs only chip synchronization. The error probability over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is derived in the singleand multi-user environment and compared with other modulation schemes.

Analytical Performance Evaluation of Time-hopping Pulse Position Amplitude Modulation Ir-uwb Systems under Multi User Interference

Trends in modern communication systems place high demands on low power consumption, high speed transmission and anti-interference characteristics. Therefore impulse radio ultra–wideband (IR-UWB) [1] radio systems have recently gained increased popularity. Since IR-UWB symbols are transmitted with short pulses (< 2 ns), in IR-UWB systems, energy has been spread over the frequency bands of up to ...

BER Performance of UWB Modulations through S-V Channel Model

BER analysis of Impulse Radio Ultra Wideband (IRUWB) pulse modulations over S-V channel model is proposed in this paper. The UWB pulse is Gaussian monocycle pulse modulated using Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) and Pulse Position Modulation (PPM). The channel model is generated from a modified S-V model. Bit-error rate (BER) is measured over several of bit rates. The result shows that all modu...

Design of Complex Wavelet Pulses Enabling PSK Modulation for UWB Impulse Radio Communications

In this paper, we present the design of complex Ultra-wideband (UWB) pulses which enables the phase-shift keying (PSK) modulation for UWB Impulse Radio (IR) Communications. Two classes of complex UWB pulses are proposed based on complex Gaussian wavelets and complex rational orthogonal wavelets respectively. Formulas in closed form are derived for a full control of the time and frequency proper...

Chirp Pulse Compression in Non-Coherent Impulse-Radio Ultra-Wideband Communications

The paper investigates chirp pulse compression as a signal dimension reduction technique in non-coherent Impulse-Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR–UWB) communications. Two common types of non-coherent IR–UWB detection are considered, energy detection of IR–UWB Pulse Position Modulated (PPM) symbols and sample-wise differential detection of Differential Phase Shift Keying (DPSK) IR–UWB symbols, as well a...

Selective Signal Combining for Effective BER Improvement in Noncoherent IR-UWB Systems

In order to effectively improve the BER (Bit Error Rate) performance of noncoherent IR-UWB (Impulse Radio Ultra Wide Band) systems utilizing 2PPM (Binary Pulse Position Modulation), we propose a selective signal combining scheme which performs selective combination of received signals by estimating the SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) of the energies during the pulse width interval. key words: UWB, ...
